Memphis Gibson Guitar

Each year the Gibson Guitar Factory donates a number of unfinished guitar bodies to Pat Kerr Tigrett for her Moonshine Ball. She commissions local artists to “decorate” the guitars for auction at the yearly event. I was told this year they would be celebrating the 60th anniversary of Royal Studios, 60th anniversary of STAX, and the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ death. So, I geared my design around these events and incorporated the likenesses of the most prominent names associated with them.

The design was initially applied using a laser print transfer, and then hand burned into the wood with a Razertip wood burner.
